This article describes how you can make a virtual COM port that is connected to a NR500 router over the AT over IP function. First, you must install the AT over IP application, please write to email@example.com , we will then provide you with the needed package.
Afterwards, configure the NR500 as TCP Server:
Check if the COM Modem is online, after clickeing "Save" and "Apply".
Then download and install the latest Version of VSPE (Virtual Serial Port Emulator), the 32-Bit version is free but may have security issues. The 64-Bit version can be run but asks for license:
Caution!: The free version is blacklisted by McAfee but no other security service: https://www.siteadvisor.com/sitereport.html?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eterlogic.com%2Fdownloads%2FSetupVSPE_32.zip
Download on your own risk!
Install on your machine, afterwards start the application as Administrator. Then add a new device and choose "connector".
Then, add another device, this time TCPClient:
Enter the IP and other necessary settings of the NR500:
You can also adjust the serial port settings. And press finish. Then press the play button and check if it works:
If you loop back on the NR500 connector the Tx and Rx IOs, you can test the connection for example with PuTTY:
